About CalculateCPM.net
We publish fast, browser-based calculators and plain-language guides so you can sanity-check media math without wrestling another spreadsheet tab.
Why this site exists
I publish under the name Alex Mercer — a pen name I use so editorial feedback does not mix with my day-job inbox. The story behind the site is straightforward: in 2024 I was juggling freelance campaign reporting while switching between Excel, Google Ads, and Meta Ads Manager for every proposal. Every deck reused the same formulas (CPM, CPC, CTR), yet each client asked for slightly different wording and rounding rules. Build one locked-down spreadsheet template → someone breaks it with an accidental circular reference the next week.
I coded the first version of our CPM calculator as a tiny HTML page for myself — enter any two fields, get the third, no shared file, no macros. Colleagues asked for links, then for CPC/CTR variants, then for the long-form explanations you see in the “Guide” section today. When the traffic made shared hosting sluggish, we moved to a static deployment (current: Cloudflare Pages on calculatecpm.net) so downloads stay lightweight. Nothing about that origin story is glamorous; it is simply a working media buyer wanting fewer moving parts.
Why we are credible on this topic
We stay in our lane. This site does not offer legal, tax, or financial planning advice — only arithmetic and publicly explainable formulas (e.g., CPM = (Cost ÷ Impressions) × 1,000) that you can reproduce in any spreadsheet.
Benchmark tables are labelled as ranges, not guarantees. Our CPM benchmarks page compiles representative public banding you will also see in industry round-ups; figures change with geography, vertical, season, and auction pressure. When a number is illustrative, we say so.
Open client-side tooling. Calculations run in your browser. We do not log the numbers you type into fields, and we do not require an account — see the Privacy Policy for how ads, cookies, and the contact form work.
What we plan to ship next
- Quarterly benchmark refresh: at least once per calendar quarter, we audit the benchmark table for broken external references and refresh the narrative where major platforms publish new guidance.
- More scenario templates: small, copy-ready “worked examples” for education and B2B decks (always with the same disclosure: your account data is the source of truth).
- Accessibility & print: improving focus order, contrast for data tables, and print styles for people who archive PDF proposals.
Roadmaps change when real users write in — if you have a calculator you need, tell us via the contact form.
